Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- P. tirhaca was misspelled as * Noctua tirrhaea Cramer by Fabricius, 1781, Species Insect. 2:213. This incorrect subsequent spelling was used by Ochsenheimer and other authors. See also: Meropis Hübner, 1822. Poole (1989) included OPHIOGENES R.I., 1817; MEROPIS Hübner, 1818; HEMACHRA Sodoffsky, 1837; ANUA Walker, 1858; STENOPIS Mabille, 1880; PERANUA Berio, 1959; SUBANUA Berio, 1959; TRICHANUA Berio, 1954; and PEROPHIUSA Berio, 1959 as junior synonyms of OPHIUSA Ochsenheimer, 1816. Poole (1989) included 67 species in the genus OPHIUSA.
