Orgyiidae Wallengren, 1861 was proposed for placement on the Official list of Rejected and Invalid Family-Group Names in Zoology by Fletcher, Nye & Ferguson, 1980, Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature 37 (1) : 42. Precedence to be given to Lymantriidae Hampson, 1893. ORGYIA was included within the family LYMANTRIIDAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999).
