Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- Panacela was established in the Saturniidae; it was placed in the Lasiocampidae by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera 1: 842, and in the Bombycidae by Turner, 1922, Proc. Linn. Soc. N.S.W. 47: 358; it as transferred to the Eupterotidae by Forbes, 1955, Tijdschr. Ent. 98: 85-132, where it was placed in a separate subfamily, the Panacelinae. P. rufescens is a junior subjective synonym of Naprepa pilosa Walker, 1865, ibidem 32: 489. See also: Semuta Walker, 1865, placed as a junior subjective synonym of Panacela Walker, 1865, by Kirby, 1892, ibidem 1: 842, the first reviser. PANACELA was included within the subfamily EUPTEROTIDAE: PANACELINAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
