Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- Moore cited as type-species Sphinx vigil Guérin-Méneville, 1843, a nominal species not originally included in Panacra. At the same time, however, Moore placed vigil as a senior synonym of lignaria Walker, 1856, a nominal species originally included in Panacra. Under the Code, Article 69(a)(iv), this designation constitutes the fixation of the originally included nominal species as the type-species. A lectotype of Panacra lignaria was designated by Rothschild & Jordon, 1903, Novit. Zool. 9 (Suppl.): 750. It bears the following data; Australia, Cape York 51-5 [presented by John Macgillvray, collected on the voyage of H.M.S. Rattlesnake]: lectotype male . The second syntype, a female paralectotype, is labelled: Ceylon, 56-62 [presented by R. Templeton, Esq.]. The lectotype of P. lignaria is also the holotype of Choerocampa yorkii Boisduval, [1875] 1874, Hist. nat. Insectes (Spec. gén. Lépid. Hétérocères) 1: 248. P. lignaria is a junior subjective synonym of Sphinx velox Fabricius, 1793, Ent. Syst. 3 (1): 378. Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list LILINA Tutt, 1903 and PANACRA Walker, 1856 as junior synonyms of HIPPOTION Hübner, 1819.
