Memo: Hemming (1967) stated:- The taxon represented by the nominal species Papilio iarbas [sic, see below] Drury is currently treated subjectively on taxonomic grounds as being the same as that represented by the older-established nominal species Papilio thisbe Fabricius, 1781, (Spec. Ins. 2 : 130). Cowan (1968: 19) stated:- The three completely distinct species which have become merged in the List [Hemming, 1967] Index (see entry there, for pp. 487-8) as "Papilio iarbas" are not even homonyms. Their respective identities, with correct original spelling of specific names, are: Lymnas iarbas (Fabricius, 1787 : 83) - Neotropical Riodinidae. Nadisepa iarbus (Fabricius, 1787 : 68) - Oriental Lycaenidae. Panara thisbe (Fabricius, 1781) syn. jarbas (Drury, 1782) - Neotropical Riodinidae. Cowan, (1968: 13) stated:- PANARA, lines 2, 4: "iarbas" should read; jarbas. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008). See images at Butterflies of America.
