It is here transferred to the Ophiderinae and placed next to Dinumma Walker, 1858. Poole (1989) included PARALOPHA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus PARALOPHA.
