| Memo: | Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:- The type-species is a junior primary homonym of Phalaena (Noctua) achatina Sulzer, 1776, Abgekürzte Gesch. Insecten 1: 160; 2: pl.22, fig.4, Noctuidae, Catocalinae. There is no objective replacement name but Phalaena achatina Smith is a subjective synonym of Dasychira meridionalis (Barnes & McDunnough, 1913) ssp. memorata Ferguson, 1978, Moths Am. N. of Mexico 22 (2): 39, text-fig.8d, pl.3, figs 30-37, pl.4, figs 3, 8, 16, 17; the latter is therefore available for use as a subjective replacement name. |
