| Memo: | Hemming (1967) stated:- The name Phanessa was introduced by Sodovskii as a replacement for Vanessa Fabricius, 1807. This action of Sodovskii's was entirely unjustified as Vanessa Fabricius is an available name. In consequence the name Phanessa Sodovskii is invalid as being a junior objective synonym of the name Vanessa Fabricius Cowan (1970: 38) stated:- PHANESSA Sodoffsky, 1837. An Unjustified Emendation of Vanessa Fabricius, 1807. Deliberate and studied. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008). |
