Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- E. aequatorialis is a junior subjective synonym of Dioptis hyelosioides Walker, 1862, Trans. ent. Soc. Lond. (3) 1: 70. In the Heterocera part of Considérations Lépid. Guatemala, pages 64-100, Boisduval cited several references to plates 75-106 of Felder's Reise öst. Fregatte Novara (Zool.) 2 (Abt.2), which were included in Heft 4 of that work and were not, on available evidence, published until 1874. It seems probable that Boisduval had access to proof copies or to copies of the plates that were sent to him privately prior to publication. Boisduval's references to `plate 108' on pages 91 and 92 should read `plate 103'. At the end of his description of Epilais aequatoralis, which he attributed to Felder, Boisduval stated `Felder places this species in his genus Phelodes'. Phelodes was the published by Boisduval in 1870 as a junior synonym of Epilais Boisduval, 1870 and is not available from that date under Article 11(d) of the Code, not having been subsequently treated as an available name with its original date and authorship. See also: Gonora Walker, [1865]. Parsons et al. (1999) included PHELODES Felder, 1874 as a junior synonym of GONORA Walker, 1865. Pitkin (2002) included Hylasia Boisduval, 1870; and Phelodes Felder, 1874 as junior synonyms of Gonora Walker, [1865] 1864.
