| Memo: | Nye (1975) stated:- P. callitrichoides was described as a new species by Grote for the misidentification Doryodes acutalis Walker, [1859] 1858, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 16: 73. Walker proposed acutalis as an emendation of Ligia acutaria Herrich-Schäffer [1852], but because of the misidentification acutalis Walker has at times been incorrectly used for callitrichoides Grote. See also: Sudariophora Zeller, 1872 [December]. Poole (1989) included PHYPROSOPUS in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). However, Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999) included PHYPROSOPUS in the subfamily CATOCALINAE. Poole (1989) included SUDARIOPHORA Zeller, 1872; and PHIPROSOPUS Dyar, 1893 as junior synonyms of PHYPROSOPUS Grote, 1872. Poole (1989) included 9 species in the genus PHYPROSOPUS. |
