Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- P. xanthoceros is a junior subjective synonym of Noctua ridens Fabricius, 1787, Mantissa Insect. 2: 180. Polyploca was originally placed among the 'Noctuae'. Fletcher (1979, Generic Names of Moths of the World) stated:- P. xanthoceros is a junior subjective synonym of Noctua ridens Fabricius, 1787, Mantissa Insect. 2: 180. See also: Parmelina Houlbert, 1921. POLYPLOCA was included within the subfamily DREPANIDAE: THYATIRINAE by Minet & Scoble, in Kristensen (1999).
