Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- S. dentatus is dated from the wrapper of part 11 of the work, not from the title-page of volume 2 which is dated 1779. POLYPTYCHUS was included within the subfamily SPHINGIDAE: SMERINTHINAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
