Memo: Hemming (1967) stated:- For over ten years it proved impossible to interpret this genus, but in 1941 (Ent. News 52 : 276-277) Forbes showed that the taxon represented by its type-species, Pseudomechanitis paradoxa Röber was the same as that represented by the older-established nominal species Ceratinia limpida Haensch, 1905 (Berl. ent. L. 50 (1/2) : 155). Cowan (1970: 54) stated:- Bert. ent. L. to read - Berl. ent. Z. On this basis the name Pseudomechanitis Röber thus became a junior subjective synonym of Hypothyris Hübner, 1821. Cowan (1970: 54) stated:- Ent. Z. to read - Ent. Z. Frank. a. M., [type-species journal]. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008).
