Memo: Pseudophilaenia Viette, 1950 was downgraded to denote a subgenus of Aepytus Herrich-Schäffer, [1858] 1850-1858 by Nielsen and Robinson, 1983, Entomonograph 4, p.20. Nye & Fletcher (1991) stated:- The type-species was established to denote a subgenus of Pharmacis lagopus Möschler, 1878, Verh. zool.-bot. Ges. Wien 27 (Abh.): 670, pl.9 fig.34. In the original combination of the type-species the generic name was cited as * Philaenia, an incorrect subsequent spelling.
