Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- A junior homonym of Psylla Geoffroy, 1762, Hist. Insect. Paris. 1: 482, - Hemiptera. This work has been rejected for nomenclatural purposes by Int. Commn zool. Nom., 1954, Opin. Decl. int. Commn zool. Nom. 4 Opinion 228: 211. The generic name Psylla Geoffroy has, however, been subsequently validated under the plenary powers of the Commission, 1965, Bull. zool. Nom. 22 Opinion 731: 86. Psylla Geoffroy has been placed on the Official List of Generic Names in Zoology: Name No. 1671. The objective replacement name for Psylla Germar is Staurophora R.L., 1817. See: STAUROPHORA R.L. [Reichenbach], 1817. Poole (1989) included PSYLLA Germar, 1810 (preoccupied); DIACOPE Hübner, 1820; CELSIA Stephens, 1829; CALOTAENIA Stephens, 1830; JASPIDIA Boisduval, 1840 (preoccupied); and CALLITAENIA Agassiz, 1847 as junior synonyms of STAUROPHORA R.L. [Reichenbach], 1817.
