Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- The name Pteronycta fasciata originated from Hampson but was used, together with a brief description, and unintentionally made nomenclaturally available by Fawcett prior to its proposal and description by Hampson. Poole (1989) included PTERONYCTA in the subfamily OPHIDERINAE, treated as CALPINAE by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Poole (1989) included PTERONYCTA Hampson, 1926 (preoccupied) as a junior synonym of PTERONYCTA Fawcett, 1918. Poole (1989) included 6 species in the genus PTERONYCTA.
