Memo: Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:- Pyralopsis and two of the three originally included nominal species, * P. homalochroa and * P. guatemalteca, were not described by Boisduval and were attributed to Felder, Reise öst. Fregatte Novara (Zool.) 2 (Abt.2): pl.105; but this plate, which was included in Heft 4 of Felder Rogenhofer's work, was not published until November 1874. The only described and therefore nomenclaturally available species included by Boisduval in Pyralopsis was P. divisa Boisduval, 1870. It is duval in Pyralopsis was P. divisa Boisduval, 1870. It is probable that Boisduval had obtained a proof copy of Felder & Rogenhofer's plate and its legend privately, prior to its publication in Vienna (see Fletcher, 1979, Generic Names Moths World 3: 'Dates of some important publications'). Pyralopsis was established in the Lithosides, now Arctiidae; it was placed by Prout, 1918, Novit. zool. 25: 405, in the Dioptidae, with P. homalochora Felder incorrectly cited as type-species; and is here transferred to the Pyralidae, Pyralinae as a junior subjective synonym of Mapeta Walker, 1863. Pyralopsis divisa is a junior subjective synonym of Mapeta xanthomelas Walker, 1863, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 27: 17. Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:- Pyralopsis and two of the three originally included species, * P. homalochroa and * P. guatemalteca, were not described by Boisduval but their names were attributed by him to Felder, in Felder & Rogenhofer Reise öst. Fregatte Novara (Zool.) (Abt . 2): pl. 105; this plate, however, which was included in Heft 4 of Felder & Rogenhofer's work was not published until November 1874. The only described, and therefore nomenclaturally available nominal species included in Pyralopsis by Boisduval, was P. divisa Boisduval, 1870. It is probable that Boisduval had obtained a proof copy of Felder & Rogenhofer's plate and its legend privately, prior to its publication inVienna (see Fletcher, 1979, in Nye, Generic Names Moths World 3: xi-xii). Pyralopsis was established in the Lithosides, now Arctiidae; it was placed in the Dioptidae, with P. homalochroa Felder incorrectly cited as type-species, by Prout, 1918, Novit. zool. 25: 405; it was transferred to the Pyralidae Pyralinae by Watson, Fletcher & Nye, 1980, in Nye ibidem 2: 167, 168. It was incorrectly attributed to Felder by Neave, 1940, Nomencl. zool. 3: 1056.
