Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- An unjustified emendation of Pyropteron Newman, 1832. The `Index universalis' was published as fascicle 12 of the Nomencl. zool.; Pyropterum is dated from the wrapper of fascicle 12, not from its title-page which is dated 1846. See also Checklist of the Sesiidae of the world (Lepidoptera: Ditrysia) by Dr. Franz Pühringer.
