Memo: Rhyacia Hübner, 1821, is a valid name, Kocak, 1980, Communications de la Faculte des Sciences de L'Universite D'Ankara Serie C Sciences Naturalles 24 (3) : 33. Incorrect type-species: Kocak, 1980, Communs Fac. Sci. Univ. Ankara (C) 24: 33, has stated that the type-species should be Noctua birivia [Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775, by subsequent designation by Stephens, 1835, Illust. Br. Ent. (Haustellata) 4: 8. At this reference Stephens included only one species, birivia, in his usage of Rhyacia but did not indicate that he considered it to be the type-species. Poole (1989) included EPIPSILIA Hübner, 1821; and PARARHYACIA Kocak, 1980 as junior synonyms of RHYACIA Hübner, 1821. Poole (1989) included 39 species in the genus RHYACIA Epipsilia Hübner, [1821] 1816 was established to denote a subgenus of Rhyacia Hubner, [1821] 1816 and was raised to generic level by Fibiger, 1993, Noctuidae Europaeae. 2 (2) : 18.
