Incorrect type-species: Phalaena ericetaria Villers, 1789, a name not originally included in Selidosema and not linked with one of the originally included names when designated by Hulst, 1896, Trans. Am. ent. Soc. 23: 354. Parsons et al. (1999) included SPERMO Gumppenberg, 1887 as a junior synonym of SELIDOSEMA Hübner, 1823. Parsons et al.
