| Memo: | Nye (1975) stated:- Incorrect type-species designation: Phalaena amoenita Stoll, 1780, a name not originally included in Argyrostrotis and not linked with one of the originally included names when cited by Hampson, 1908, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. 7: 517. Hampson's use here of Argyrostrotis was an error for Argyrostricta Hübner, [1821], as pointed out by Hampson, 1913, ibidem 13: 151. See also: Agnomonia Hübner, [1831]. Poole (1989) included AGNOMONIA Hübner, 1831; CROCHIPHORA Hübner, 1831; ARGYROSTROTUS Agassiz, 1847; and POAPHILA Guenée, 1852 as juniors synonyms of ARGYROSTROTIS Hübner, 1821. Poole (1989) included 12 species in the genus ARGYROSTROTIS |
