| Memo: | Fletcher (1979) stated:- Guenée's diagnosis of Spartopteryx was founded on the species which Lederer, 1855, Verh. zool.-bot. Ver. Wien 5 (Abh.): 113, pl.2 (Lederer sibir. Schmetterl.), figs 1, 2, had misidentified as Fidonia serrularia Eversmann, 1847; Guenée himself thought that Lederer's identification might be in error. Staudinger, 1871, ibidem: 163, stated that Fidonia serrularia Eversmann sensu Lederer, 1855, was a misidentification and named the species Synopsia kindermannaria. See Frontispiece 2, fig.13, Synopsia kindermannaria Staudinger, male. Under Article 70(a) of the Code, the case of a misidentified type-species should be referred to the Commission. Parsons et al. (1999) included only 1 species in the genus SPARTOPTERYX. |
