Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- A junior homonym of Sphecodes Latreille, 1804, Nouv. Dict. Hist. nat. 24 (Tables): 182, - Hymenoptera. There is no objective replacement name, but G. arcuaria is currently treated as congeneric with Phalaena paludata Linnaeus, 1767, the type-species of Scopula Schrank, 1802; the latter is thus available as a subjective replacement name. The type-locality, taken from a Hübner manuscript note, was published by Prout, 1935, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 4 (Suppl.): 47. See: SCOPULA Schrank, 1802. Parsons et al. (1999) included ACIDALINA Staudinger, 1898; ACIDALIA Treitschke, 1825; ACIDALINA Staudinger, 1898; CALOTHYSANIS Hübner, 1823; CHLOROCRASPEDIA Warren, 1899; CRASPEDIA Hübner, 1825; CYMATIDA Sodoffsky, 1837; CYMATOIDES Agassiz, 1847; EUCIDALIA Sterneck, 1941; HOLARCTIAS Prout, 1913; INDUNA Warren, 1897; LEPTOMERIS Hübner, 1825; LIPOCENTRIS Warren, 1905; LONGULA Staudinger, 1892; LYCAUGES Butler, 1879; PHYLETIS Guenée, 1858; PIGIA Guenée, 1858; PLEIONOCENTRA Warren, 1898; PSILEPHYRA Bastelberger, 1909; PYLARGE Herrich-Schffer, 1855; RUNECA Moore, 1888; SARODRIA Sodoffsky, 1837; SAROTHRIA Agassiz, 1847; SPHECODES Hübner, 1822; SYNELYS Hulst, 1896; TRICHOCLADA Meyrick, 1886; TRIORISMA Warren, 1897; and USTOCIDALIA Sterneck, 1932 as junior synonyms of SCOPULA Schrank, 1802.
