Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- Spiramiopsis was established in the Sabaliadae, now Lemoniidae; it was transferred to the Striphnopterygidae, now Eupterotidae, by Aurivillius, 1901, Bih. K. svenska VetenskAkad. Handl. 27 (4) (7): 32; and transferred to the Brahmaeidae by Seitz, 1927, in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde 14: 349, who quoted research carried out by Jordan; no published reference has been found to Jordan's research. Our colleague, Mr David Carter, has examined a larva of S. comma and believes that Spiramiopsis would be better placed in the Bombycidae; this view is supported by the external characters of the moth and Spiramiopsis is here transferred to that family. SPIRAMIOPSIS was included within the family BRAHMAEIDAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999).
