Memo: Hemming (1967) stated:-) stated: (1967) stated:- The taxon represented by the nominal species Oileides zephodes Hübner is currently treated subjectively on taxonomic grounds as being the same as that represented by the older-established nominal species Papilio otreus Stoll, [1780] (in Cramer, Uitl. Kapellen 4 (28) : 78, pl. 328, fig. F). Cowan (1970: 52) stated:- OILEIDES Hübner, [22 Dec. 1825], Samml exot. Schmett. 2 : pl. [152]. Type-species by monotypy : Oileides vulpinus Hübner, [1825], ibid. 2 : pi. [152]. Following Scudder, 1875 (Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts Sci. 10 : 232), who designated O. zephodes Hübner, [1825], ibid. 2 : pl. [151], Watson erected Ablepsis to hold O. vulpinus. In those days there was every reason to believe that pl. [151] appeared before pl. [152]. However, Hemming, 1937 (Hübner 1 : 332, 346, 347, paras 54, 56; and 409, table) showed conclusively that plate [152] appeared in lieferung 137 before 23 Dec. 1825, whereas plate [151] in lieferung 139 came out on or after that date (but before 31 Dec.) Ablepsis is thus invalid as a junior objective synonym. Oileides zephodes is currently placed in the genus Ephyriades Hübner, [1819]. [This replaced - Samml. exot. Schmett. 2 : pl. [151, [152]. Type-species by selection by Scudder (1875, [Proc. amer. Acad. Arts Sci., Boston 10 : 232) : Oileides zephodes Hübner, [1825], ibid. 2. : pl. [151], (in Hemming 1967, p.320)]. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008).
