Memo: Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:- The original designation by Hampson of Halysidota testacea Möschler, 1877, Verh. zool.-bot. Ges. Wien (Abh.) 27: 668 (but cited as * Halisidota), as type-species of Syntarctia, was an error as S. testacea Möschler sensu Hampson, 1901, was a misidentification of Halysidota aenone Butler, 1878, as shown by Hampson, 1920, ibidem (Suppl.) 2: 211 (but cited as * Oenone, an incorrect subsequent spelling). This is a case of a misidentified type-species which should be referred to the Commission under Article 70(a) of the Code.
