Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Syntomopus is a junior objective synonym of Pyrois Hübner, [1820]. Syntomopus Guenée, 1837 was treated in the Noctuidae, Acronictinae/Amphipyrinae by Nye, 1975, Generic Names Moths World, 1 : 423. Syntomopus was treated as the type-genus of the Syntomidae being raised from the Syntominae (Ctenuchiidae) by Minet, 1986, Alexanor 14 (7) : 305. The Syntominae were treated as a subfamily of Arctiidae by Venkatesha & Gopinath, 1995, Indian Journal of Forestry 18 (2) : 129-132. The Syntomidae are given as a subfamily of the Arctiidae by Kitching & Rawlins, 1999, Noctuoidea, in Kristensen (ed) Lepidoptera, Vol. 1, Handbuch der Zoologie. See: PYROIS Hübner, [1820] 1816. Poole (1989) included SYNTOMOPUS Hampson, 1908 as a junior synonym of PYROIS Hübner, 1820.
