Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- Taxeotis was used by Guest without any indication that it was a new generic name. The name was probably obtained from Meyrick as an identification and was unintentionally made nomenclaturally available before Meyrick's generic description was published. Parsons et al. (1999) included PROTOTYPA turner, 1916; and TAXEOTIS Meyrick, 1890 as junior synonyms of TAXEOTIS Guest, 1887. Parsons et al. (1999) included 47 species and 2 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus TAXEOTIS.
