Memo: Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:- Walker's diagnosis of Tifama was based on two femalespecimens of Phalaena chera Drury, 1773, which Walker misidentified as Phalaena simolis Stoll, 1780. The two specimens which Walker studied are in the BMNH; they have been compared with Drury's figure of P. chera and match it well. The use by Walker of the name simois was possibly a lapsus, for Phalaena chera Drury, 1773, was figured by Stoll, 1780, in Cramer, ibidem 4: 39, pl.308, fig.E, next to P. simois Stoll, 1780, on the same plate. Under the Code, Article 70(a), the case of a misidentified type-species should be referred to the Commission. P. simois is dated from the wrapper of part 26, not from the title-page of volume 4 which is dated 1782.
