| Memo: | Hemming (1967) stated:- Kirby attributed this name to Barbut who, he erroneously believed, had published it as a generic name in binominal nomenclature. Actually, Kirby himself on this occasion was the first author validly to publish Tros as a generic name. Cowan (1970: 56) stated:- "TROS line 1 : "Lepid. 2". This formula is much clearer, although strictly perhaps less correct, than the "Lepid. 1, Butts. 2" used for the same reference in the entry for Achivus. The five volumes were respectively numbered; Lepid. Part 1, Butts. 1. Lepid. Part 1, Butts. 2. Lepid. Vol. 3, Butts. (concluded), Moths Part 1. Lepid. Vol. 4, Moths 2. Lepid. Vol. 5, Moths 3. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008). |
