Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- A junior homonym of Tylognathus Heckel, 1843, in Russegger, Reisen in Europa, Asien und Afrika ... 1835 bis 1841 1 (2): 1027, - Pisces. There is no objective replacement name but T. philampeloides is a junior subjective synonym of Enyo carinata Walker, 1856, the type-species of Gonenyo Butler, 1876; the latter is thus available for use as a subjective replacement name. Incorrect type-species: Sphinx japix Cramer, 1776, a nominal species not originally included in Tylognathus, and not linked with one of the originally included nominal species when designated by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool. 9 (Suppl.): 543; Rothschild & Jordan attributed Tylognathus to Boisduval, an incorrect authorship. Kitching & Cadiuo (2000) list CALLENYO Grote, 1874; GONENYO Butler, 1876; and TYLOGNATHUS Felder, 1974 as junior names of ALEURON Boisduval, 1870.
Type Comments: Cited by Felder, 1875, ibidem 2 (Abt.2) Erklärung to pls 75-107: 9
