Memo: Hylonycta Sugi, 1979 and Molybdonycta Sugi, 1979 were both established to denote subgenera of Acronicta Ochsenheimer, 1816 and were both raised to generic level by Inoue, Sugi, Kuroko, Moriuti and Kawabe, 1982, Moths of Japan Vol. 2 : 346. Poole (1989) included ACRONYCTA Treitschke, 1825; APATELE Hübner, 1822; ARCTOMYSCIS Hübner, 1820 (as ARCTOMYCIS Hübner, 1820); CHAMAEPORA Warren, 1909; COMETA Sodoffsky, 1837; CUSPIDIA Chapman, 1890; EULONCHE Grote, 1873; HYBOMA Hübner, 1820; JOCHEAERA Hübner, 1820; LEPITOREUMA Grote, 1873; MASTIPHANES Grote, 1882; MEGACRONYCTA Grote, 1873; MICROCOELIA Guenée, 1852; PHARETRA Hübner, 1820; PHILORGYIA Grote, 1896; PLATAPLECTA Butler, 1878; PSEUDEPUNDA Butler, 1890; SEMAPHORA Guenée, 1841; SEMATOPHORA Agassiz, 1847; SUBACRONICTA Kozhantschikov, 1950; TRIAENA Hübner, 1818; TRICHOLONCHE Grote, 1896; and VIMINIA Chapman, 1890 as junior synonyms of ACRONICTA Ochsenheimer, 1816. Poole (1989) included 162 species in the genus ACRONICTA.
