Memo: Watson, Fletcher & Nye (1980) stated:- C. affine is a junior subjective synonym of Deiopeia heterochroa Mabille, 1879, Bull. Soc. zool. Fr. 3:88 (but proposed in * Dejopeia, an incorrect subsequent spelling). Callicereon was established in the Arctiidae; it was placed in the Noctuidae by Viette, 1965, Bull. Soc. ent. Fr. 70:151. Callicereon in the Noctuidae, Acronictinae was not included in Nye, 1975, Generic Names Moths World 1. Poole (1989) included CALLICERON in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (1999). Poole (1989) included 2 species in the genus CALLICEREON.
