| Memo: | Hemming (1967) stated:- The name Papilio linea [Denis & Schiffermüller] is currently treated on taxonomic grounds as a junior subjective synonym of Papilio sylvestris Poda, 1761 (Ins. Mus. graec. : 79). Cowan (1970) stated:- ADOPOEA lines 2-3 to read - linea Müller, 1766 (in Allioni) Melang. Soc. Turin 3 (Phil.) : 185-198. Denis & Schiffermiiller did not publish the name linea as new; they correctly credited it to Muller and gave the reference, while synonymising it with P. sylvestris Poda. The higher classification used here follows Lamas (2008). |
