Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- As Agassiz did not included any species, but referred Celerio to Oken, 1815 (see below), the type-species must be selected from one of the two species originally included by Oken. S. galii is a junior subjective synonym of Sphinx gallii Rottemburg, 1775, Naturforscher, Halle 7: 107. In a ruling by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1958, Opin. Decl. int. Commn zool. Nom. 19 (Opinion 516): 3-34, volumes 6 and 7 of the Naturforscher, Halle published in 1775 were given precedence over [Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775, Ankündung syst. Werkes Schmett. Wienergegend. The Lepidoptera part of the Nomencl. zool. (Nom. syst. Generum Anim.) was included in fascicles 9 and 10 issued in one wrapper dated 1846. Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list CELERIO Agassiz, 1846; * CELERIO Oken, 1815; DANNERIA Eitschberger & Zolotuhin, 1998; EREMOHYLES Eitschberger & Zolotuhin, 1998, HAWAIINA Tutt, 1903; HIPPOHYLES Eitschberger & Zolotuhin, 1998; ROMMELIANA Eitschberger & Zolotuhin, 1998; SURHOLTIA Eitschberger & Zolotuhin, 1998; THAUMAS Hübner, 1819; TURNERIA Tutt, 1903; and WEISMANNIA Tutt, 1904 as junior synonyms of HYLES Hübner, 1819.
