Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Proposed, unnecessarily, as an objective replacement name for Centropus Christoph, 1889. The objective replacement name Scythocentropus Speiser, 1902, had already been proposed. See: SCYTHOCENTROPUS Speiser, 1902. Poole (1989) included CENTROPUS Christoph, 1889 (preoccupied); HUGONIA ALperaky, 1902; and CENTROPODIA Hampson, 1908 as junior synonyms of SCYTHOCENTROPUS Speiser, 1902.
