Memo: Fletcher & Nye (1984) stated:- Chiloides was diagnosed by Amsel, 1949, Bull. Soc. Fouad I Ent. 33: 281; two nominal species were included but no type-species designation accompanied the diagnosis. Under the Code, Article 13(b) genus-group names proposed after 1930 must be accompanied by the definite fixation of a type-species; Chiloides Amsel, 1949, does not satisfy those provisions and is therefore unavailable. In a subsequent use of Chiloides, Bleszynski, 1963, ibidem 8: (91), referred to Amsel's original diagnosis and designated one of the originally included nominal species as type-species; Chiloides is therefore available from 1963. Chiloides Bleszynski, 1963, is a junior homonym of Chiloides Butler 1881 Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (5) 7: 392 - Lepid., Tortric replacement name but T. cicatricella was stated by Bleszynski, 1965, in Amsel et al., Microlepid. Palaearctica 1: 127, to be congeneric with Crambus placidellus Haimbach, 1907, the type-species of Haimbachia Dyar, 1909; the latter is thus available for use as a subjective replacement name. The inclusion of Chiloides Bleszynski, 1963, in the synonymy of Acigona Hübner, [1825], by Bleszynski, 1963, ibidem 8: (91); and the inclusion of both Chiloides Bleszynski, 1963, and Haimbachia Dyar, 1909, in the synonymy of Acigona Hübner, [1825], by Bleszynski, 1965, ibidem 1: 127, are incorrect, the placings being based on a type-species designation later than the valid one. Acigona Hübner, [1825], is correctly placed in the Noctuidae. Friedlanderia is the objective replacement name for the preoccuppied name Chiloides Bleszynski, 1963, nec Butler, 1881 by Agnew, 1987, Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington 89 (1) : 101.
