Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Haworth referred to 'xerampelina Hübner' in his description of N. centrago. Guenée, originally included only one species which he cited as 'xerampelina Hüb., centrago Curt., Steph.'; but this usage was a misidentification of Phalaena xerampelina Esper, [1796], Die Schmett. 4 (Abschnitt 2): 15, pl. 183, fig. 4, and so is not nomenclaturally available. This is a case of a misidentified type-species which under the Code, Article 70 (a), should be referred to the Commission. Cirroedia Guenée 1839 was established as a valid subgenus of Atethmia Hübner, [1821] 1816 and treated as a valid subgenus, being revalidated by Beck 1996, Neue Entomologische Nachrichten 36 : 58. Poole (1989) included CIRROEDIA Guenée, 1839; CIRRHOIDIA Agassiz, 1847; and BRACHYCOSMIA Butler, 1890 as junior synonyms of ATETHMIA Hübner, 1821.
