| Memo: | Fletcher & Nye (1982) stated:- S. phalaris is dated from the wrapper of part 13, not from the title-page of volume 2 which is dated 1779. CLANIS was included within the subfamily SPHINGIDAE: SMERINTHINAE by Lemaire & Minet, in Kristensen (1999). Kitching & Cadiou (2000) list BASIANA Walker, 1856 and METAGASTES Boisduval, 1875 as junior synonyms of CLANIS Hübner, 1819. |
