| Memo: | Fletcher (1979) stated:- When proposed, five other species were doubtfully included; under Article 67(h) of the Code none of these five is eligible for selection as type-species. A junior homonym of Comibaena Hübner, [1823] 1816, Verz. bekannter Schmett.: 284 - Lepid. Geometridae. There is no objective replacement name, but C. trogonaria is congeneric with Drepandoes uninuculata Guenée, 1857, the type-species of Drepanodes Guenée, 1857; the latter is thus available as a subjective replacement name. Comibaena was included by Herich-Schäffer in his `Synopsis familiarum Lepidopterorum' which was published first in Syst. Bearbeitung Schmett Eur. 6: 82-133. The title page of volume 6 is dated 1843-1856 but Herrich-Schäffer, 1869, CorrespBl. zool.-min. Ver. Regensburg 23: 214, has stated that Heft 68 (which included the Synopsis) was published in 1855; the Heft wrapper is so dated. The same Synopsis was included in Samml. neuer oder wenig bekannter aussereur. Schmett. 1: 2-52; the title-page of this work is dated 1850-1858 but Gerstaecker, 1857, Arch. Naturgesch. 23 (2): 431, has stated that pages 1-52, were published in 1856. Further information is given in the Introduction to this volume under Dates of some important Publications. (1999) included COMIBAENA Herrich-Schäffer, 1855; DREPANODES Guenée, 1857; HALESA Walker, 1860; and HEMIOPLISIS Herrich-Schäffe, 1855 as junior synonyms of PATALENE Herrich-Schäffer, 1854. Pitkin (2002) included Hemioplisis Herrich-Schäffer, 1855; Comibaena Herrich-Schäffer, 1855; Drepanodes Guenée, [1858]; Halesa Walker, 1860; Astatomorpha Warren, 1894; and Porona Schaus, 1901 as junior synonyms of Patalene Herrich-Schäffer, [1854] 1850-1858. |
