Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- Proposed, unnecessarily, as an objective replacement name for Lygniodes Guenée, 1852, which Rogenhofer considered to be a junior homonym of Lignyodes Schoenherr, 1833, Genera Species Curculionidum 1 (1):19, - Coleoptera. Some authors including Neave, 1939, Nomencl. zool. 1:92, have attributed Agonista to Felder. In the original description opposite pl.113 it is given as 'Agonista n.g. Roghf.' See: LYGNIODES Guenée, 1852. Poole (1989) included AGONISTA Rogenhofer, 1874 as a junior synonym of LYGNIODES Guenée, 1852.
