Memo: Fletcher (1979) stated:- Incorrect type-species: Phalaena militaris Linnaeus, 1758, a name not originally included in Dysphania and not linked with one of the originally included names when designated by Turner, 1910, Proc. Linn. Soc. N.S.W. 35: 628. P. numana is dated from the wrapper of part 19, not from the title-page of volume 3 which is dated 1782. Parsons et al. (1999) included DEILEPTENA Guérin-Méneville, 1831; EUSCHEMA Hübner, 1819; HAZIS Boisduval, 1832; HELEONA Swainson, 1833; PAREUSCHEMA Thierry-Mieg, 1905; and POLENIVORA Gistl, 1848 as junior synonyms of DYSPHANIA Hübner, 1819.. Parsons et al. (1999) included 45 species and 53 subspecies (inc. nominates) in the genus DYSPHANIA.
