Birdwing Butterfly Collection

The Birdwing Butterfly collection comprises the records of all the pinned material of Ornithoptera, Trogonoptera and Troides at the Natural History Museum, London at the time of project completion (March 2019).

Each specimen record has been published with an image capturing both the specimen and its associated labels and creating an inventory record with a unique identifier (Data Matrix barcode), taxon information, type status and country level collection locality. All specimens will have an additional image capturing the ventral (adult specimens) or lateral (immature stages) view as well as the reverse side of labels.

The data resource generated by the project is available using the link. Please search for the relevant taxa.

This collection was digitised as part of the Museum's Digital Collections Programme through the funding of an anonymous donor.
