Castniidae Collection

The Castniidae Collection comprises the records of all the pinned and spirit material of family Castniidae housed in the Lepidoptera Collection at the Natural History Museum, London at the time of project completion (April 2025).

The Castniidae Collection was digitised to improve access and support research into the family.

Each specimen record has been published with two images capturing a dorsal and ventral view of the specimen and its associated labels, creating an inventory record with a unique identifier (Data Matrix barcode) taxon information, country of origin, and type status.

The data resource generated by the project is available using the Data and Resources link.
