Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- N. capsincola is a junior subjective synonym of Phalaena bicruris Hufnagel, 1766, Berlin. mag. 3 (3): 302. Hadena when proposed by Schrank included not only the species in sections M & N in his Fauna Boica 2 (1): 347-354 but also the species in sections O & P of [Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775, ibidem: 81-84. The type-species, N. capsincola, was among the latter. Incorrect type-species: Phalaena typica Linnaeus, 1758, although the first of the species, originally included in Hadena, was not a new species proposed in Hadena and so cannot, under the Code, Article 68 (b), be regarded as the type-species. Incorrect type-species designation: Phalaena genistae Villers, 1789, a name not, originally included in Hadena, and not linked with one of the, originally included names when cited by Duponchel, 1829, in Godart & Duponchel, Hist. nat. Lépid. Papillons Fr. 7 (2): 71. Hada Billberg, 1820, an unjustifiable emendation of Hadena Schrank, 1802; given by Kocak, 1981, Priamus 1 (1) : 22. Miselia Ochsenheimer, 1816, was downgraded to denote a subgenus of Hadena Schrank, 1802 by Beck, 1991, Atalanta 22 (2-4) : 194. Aneda Sukhareva, 1973, was established to denote a subgenus of Hadena Schrank, 1802 and raised to generic level by Beck, 1991, Atalanta 22 (2-4) : 195. Enterpia Guenée, 1850 was proposed as a subgenus of Hadena Schrank, 1802 and was raised to generic level by Beck, 1991, Atalanta 22 (2-4) : 195. Poole (1989) included MISELIA Ochsenheimer, 1816; ZETEOLYGA Billberg, 1820 (as ZETOLYGA Billberg, 1820); HARMODIA Hübner, 1820; EPIA Hübner, 1821; DIANTHOECIA Boisduval, 1834; ADENA Agassiz, 1847; ENTERPIA Guenée, 1850; ANEPIA Hampson, 1918; and ANEDA Sukareva, 1973 as junior synonyms of HADENA Schrank, 1802. Poole (1989) included 94 species in the genus HADENA.
