Memo: Nye (1975) stated:- H. haemorrhanta Turner is a junior primary homonym and a junior objective synonym of Hypoperigea haemorrhanta Hampson, 1909 [May 25th], Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus. 8: 425. This species was described and made nomenclaturally available by Hampson, based on the same specimen as Turner's description published four months later. Poole (1989) included THEGALEA in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE, subsequently restricted to the genus AMPHIPYRA by Kitching & Rawlins, in Kristensen (1999). Other genera formerly treated in the subfamily AMPHIPYRINAE are treated as HADENINAE by Kitching & Rawlins (loc. cit.). Poole (1989) included only 1 species in the genus THEGALEA.
